Rhyme【Dong Ding Oolong Tea】
Dong Ding Oolong was named for the location of the tea plantation, Dong Ding Mountain in Lugu. Dong Ding literally means icy peak. The tea seed of Dong Ding Oolong was brought to Taiwan by a scholar in the 19th century from Wu-Yi Mountain in Fujian province of China. It was planted in the Dong Ding Mountain of the Nantou County. The Dong Ding mountain path was slippery because of its brown clay soil, and the poor farmers were unable to afford shoes, so they had to tip toe their way in the mountain while picking tea leaves. This was called “freezing tiptoe”.
Located in the mountain of 700 meters altitude, the tea trees grow in high humidity climate of warm mist and the average temperature of 20 oC. The tea garden keeps well-drained soil and high soil moisture condition. This finest tea has two flush per year, spring harvest and winter harvest. Famous for its greenish yellow tea soup, strong aroma of flora, sweet aftertaste, and allowing re-steep the tea several times, the Dong Ding Oolong Tea is the top grade oolong teas from Taiwan.
